Risk factors include
- Overweight/obese, (especially belly fat).
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Type II diabetes
- Smoking
- Inactive life-style
- Poor diet
Many of these risk factors are preventable!
- Quit smoking
- Reduce weight—every little bit counts–only five to 10 pound loss can reduce blood pressure, blood sugar and risk of diseases
- Reduce fat in your diet—(should be less than 7% of total daily calories)
- Reduce salt (sodium) in your diet (daily intake of 2,400 mg or less.
- Add servings of vegetables, fruits and whole grains to every meal.
